Некоторое время назад искала себе для будильника устраивающий вариант песни "Hallelujah". Ее перепевали какое-то бессчетное количество раз, делая разные акценты и меняя куплеты.

В зависимости от исполнителя песня превращалась то в грустную, то в воодушевляющую, то в звеняще-тонкую, то в романтичную и даже сексуальную. И при всем желании и лирических допусках это определенно не love song.

Оригинальный текст написан Леонардом Коэном в 1984, в изначальном своем варианте он содержал отсылки к известным библейским сюжетам, да и вообще песня больше походила на госпел. В 1988 Коэн пишет куда более лирический вариант, оставляя музыку и почти полностью меняя слова. В одной статье здорово сказали: His versions - one Biblical and another secular - take us through a huge range of emotional places, with the different hallelujahs expressing despair, sexual ecstasy and religious devotion. Даже переводить не буду, на русском не так красиво.

Строки каждого варианта смело перемешиваются как самим Коэном, так и в каверах другими исполнителями. В результате наиболее известным вариантом песни сейчас является микс двух текстов в исполнении Руфуса Уэйнрайта, именно его композиция стала финальным саундтреком в Шреке.

Мне близок "светский" вариант текста и коэновское исполнение. Вообще это бесконечно грустная для меня песня. И это определенно не love song.
